Forums

When the University at Albany’s Center for Excellence in Aging Services secured a planning grant from the John A. Hartford Foundation, Albany Guardian Society was given an opportunity to assist the Center in producing public forums that would allow the research staff to communicate with large numbers of professionals and consumers covering a variety of aging-related topics in the Capital Region. Philip McCallion, Ph.D., director of this planning effort, assembled a talented planning group and worked with Albany Guardian Society to produce a number of well-attended forums that year.  Little did we realize that these early efforts with the University at Albany’s Center for Excellence in Aging Services would be the beginning of Albany Guardian Society’s role as a public convener of individuals and organizations interested in aging services.  Over the years, our forum activity has become a major program initiative and we have been able to cover a broad range of aging-related topics.
